We are thrilled to announce the addition of Dr. Josiah Brown to the Alaska Heart & Vascular Institute team. Dr. Brown brings a wealth of expertise in interventional and structural cardiology, specializing in advanced procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitral valve repair (TEER), and left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO). His training at Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute in Los Angeles, alongside renowned leaders in the field, has prepared him to offer cutting-edge treatments to Alaskans.
Dr. Brown completed his medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University, followed by his residency at the University of Washington and cardiology fellowships at Cedars-Sinai. His work in developing innovative cardiovascular treatments, such as a transcutaneous cardiac injury biomarker sensor, highlights his commitment to advancing care. Dr. Brown’s passion for innovation even extends to the development of a patented wire threading device to assist physicians in complex procedures.
“I am excited to join AHVI and help expand the structural heart program, bringing advanced therapies to patients with previously untreatable conditions in Alaska,” said Dr. Brown. “My goal is to improve the quality of life for my patients by offering personalized, minimally invasive care.”
Outside the clinic, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, a pediatric oncologist, and their young daughter. They are excited to explore Alaska’s beautiful wilderness and enjoy activities like skiing, hiking, and biking. Dr. Brown also has a passion for cooking, particularly crafting homemade pizza.
